Expanded metal is created by simultaneously cutting and stretching a sheet of metal, resulting in its distinctive mesh-like structure. Known for its functionality and durability, you are far more likely to encounter it in ventilation systems than in jewellery.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt was precisely this contradiction that immediately attracted us. We knew right away that we wanted to create something with this material, yet we left it aside for a long time. Unlike the flat metal sheets or brass, silver and gold wire we usually work with, this was not a material that allowed us to imagine a piece in advance, sketch it and then simply make it. This time, the material did not follow our idea – we had to follow it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs light as it appears, expanded metal is both stubborn and demanding. Its edges are sharp, and the way it is cut determines what is possible and what is not. It allowed very few compromises. Instead of imposing a shape onto it, we had to get to know it and accept its rules. The process was slow, intuitive and full of experimentation. The material itself showed us what it wanted to become.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is how MAD MESH came to life – jewellery at right angles.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThroughout history, expanded metal has been a material of function. Beyond industry and architecture, it occasionally appeared in modernist interiors of the 1970s and 1980s as cabinet doors, decorative partitions, lampshades and furniture details. At the same time, the idea of metallic textiles has long existed in fashion – from the avant-garde experiments of Paco Rabanne and the futuristic silhouettes of Thierry Mugler to the post-apocalyptic costumes designed by Norma Moriceau for Mad Max.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe name of the collection naturally emerged from our association with Mad Max – a world where armour, strength and elegance do not exclude one another. We were fascinated by the costume design of that universe; women who appear powerful and warrior-like, yet undeniably sensual. What once served as protection now becomes adornment, something wearable in everyday life. An industrial element becomes a second skin.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn the character of Aunty Entity, portrayed by Tina Turner in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, we found something familiar: a woman who is simultaneously a warrior and a diva. Her costumes were neither armour nor dresses, but something in between – improvised, powerful and extravagant. It was precisely this space between strength and femininity that became the starting point for MAD MESH.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe were searching for an atmosphere reminiscent of deserts and the films of George Miller – or perhaps Robert Rodriguez – grainy imagery, warm orange tones and the feeling of an unfinished heroine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe spend a great deal of time at TK Građanski in Klaićeva Street, a place where many of our friends gather and whose community we proudly support. Since last year, THE ALL has also been a sponsor of their women’s tennis tournament, for which we created the first prizes – gold and silver pendants and necklaces shaped like tennis balls.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTennis fascinates us because of its paradox. It is a sport of discipline, rules and precision, but also a symbol of elegance and luxury. We wanted to collide that world with something unexpected: tulle, bridal gowns, warm orange light and mesh metal that resembles textile more than sheet metal.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSomewhere between Carrie Bradshaw, the heroines of Robert Rodriguez films and the post-apocalyptic aesthetics of Mad Max, a series of images emerged that feel extravagant, unconventional and poetic. The woman we imagine wearing MAD MESH is never one-dimensional. She can be gentle and strong, elegant and slightly wild, romantic and playful.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eInterestingly, while we were shooting the collection, Naomi Osaka appeared at Roland Garros in a striking look created by Yoon Ahn for Nike – featuring a layered golden garment that transformed just before the match. It felt like a small confirmation of everything we had been thinking about: sport and fashion stopped being separate worlds a long time ago.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMAD MESH was never conceived as a perfect collection. It is the result of process, patience and a dialogue with a material that resisted us. It was born from the desire to transform something functional and raw into something wearable.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhat was once a fence, a ventilation grille or a protective barrier has become a necklace, a ring and a belt.
